The Outsiders Book Club Response

Title: The Outsiders
Author: S. E. Hinton

Today I read the book "The Outsiders" So far I find this book very interesting because it's about a group of boys that have each others back there like a little gang. The name of there gang is " The Greasers" They have a rival gang called "The Socs". The name of the One of the boys in the group from The Greasers that they call Pony boy was walking home from the movies. He got jumped by the Socs. He was cut up and they cut his long hair. When he went home his brothers and friends told him to calm down. They went looking for The Greasers but they already left. That is what I have read so far.

Hyperbole

One Hyperbole the poet used was "If only a bomb would explode you to bits.". I Think the poet used this Hyperbole this way because he wants to show that he really hates homework and he wants it to blow up and disapear. Another Hyperbole the poet used was " I wish I could wash you away in the sink." I think he is saying that he wants to wash the home work down the sink for it can go to a sewer.

Poetry Response Bronx Masquerade

What I think of this characters so far is that they all know whats going on in the streets of Harlem and about all the violence that is going on. I have learned that most of them do not have a lot of money. A inference i can make about this characters is that they all have a talent.
The poetry reveals about them a lot of things like that that most of them don't have a lot of money. Most of them are very confident with there poetry.
The meaning of Tyrone's poem is that he knows whats going on about the violence and the drugs but he still wants to live there because he loves living there. One thing is that he isn't very confident when it comes to life. He thinks he will be lucky if he makes it to the age of 21.
I do not connect with this poem because I know what I want to do with my future and I don't take school as a joke.

"Changes" - Tupac Shakur

A inference i can make about this poem is that Tupac is living in a racist time.
Words hat best describe this poet the way he is feeling are "War, Racist, N----, Police, Crack, Drugs, and much more
The reason why is because he is explaining out people were so racist and there was always drugs and violence.
The message that Tupac is trying to send is to everyone! that is living with racism and drugs and violence
because he is living during while all of this is happening he is explaining how the blacks can't rest because they need
to live there life looking behind there shoulder because probably cops will try to kill or beat them.
I do connect with this poem because he went through this and If I was living while this was going on
I would feel exactly the same way.
But some of it is still going on not like it was going on before.

Letter to the New President

Dear Mr. President,
Congratulations on becoming the first African-American president of the United States of America. There's History in a making and it's coming with a change. Today I feel excited because I'm being a part of history. I think the things you should handle in the first (100) days is bring the
troops back from Iraq, and Afghanistan. Also, handle the poverty in the United States. It's bringing the country down a little bit.
My opinion on how people feel in New York and people in other states or/and world wide is that they were not shocked but excited because you're the first African-American president in the United States. I think Martin Luther King Jr. would of been one of the happiest men in the world to see you become president. He did a lot of hard work. One of his dreams was probably being alive to see the first African-American President of the United States.
Today in your speech I hope you talk about the main topic you talked about from the beginning of the campaign which was Change. Also how you will make United States a better place to live in. Now that your our President hopefully a lot will change. Good Luck with the speech in your Inauguration. Again Congratulations.

Title: Bone

Today I read "Bone" The book was very interesting I read about 37 pages.
Bone the main character is taking bets from people that are betting
on a " Mystery Cow " But the cow is really a person in side
a hand made cow jacket. Bone and hes friend are going to
try to scam the people that are betting them.

Test Prep Action Plan

My goal this year is to get a 3 or higher on both the ELA and Math test. On the ELA Test my plans to get a 3 or higher are to do all my work in class and ask Ms.Johns for help on things I need help on. I will also study I don't really like to study but I'm trying to achieve my goal so I must do what I need to do to get a 3 or higher on the ELA test.

What I have accomplished so far in ELA so far in this year is learning how to make smart decisions while doing a multiple choice question test. Also, how to figure out what a word means by using context clues. We have been using the laptops in our ELA Class this helps me more
because typing is better then writing in my point of view.
My goal this year is to get a 3 or higher on the ELA test. Reading and writing is important in my life because I'm going to use in my everyday life.

Title : Runaways

So far in my book the runaways one of them is a Mole. Meaning that the mole will turn back on the group and get with The Pride. So The mole is Alex He attacked almost everybody and told Nico if she wanted to join Alex, And leaving everybody else behind. I just started the fourth book.
I predict that the rest of the Runaways will get strong and get Alex back for what he has done.

Title: Run Aways

Today during Ms.Johns class we were independently reading for the 30 minutes. The book I read was Runaways. I got to finish the book and I like the way the book finished at the end because it left me wondering with what is going to happen in the next book, Kinda Anxious. I Also like the way the book finished because everybody in the city are mutants or apart of The Pride. The pride is a group with mutants and other weird things.
I predicted in the beginning of the second book that Alex "One of the main characters" was going to make a plan and save the "Club" The club is the children of the Mutants, Aliens, Time Travelers and much more. So that's what Alex did he took everybody to a Cave and there they hid because there parents framed them and told the police that they committed a crime which they did not do it was there parents. They killed a innocent girl.
The title of the book goes with the book because it actually makes sense, Since the children all are "Running Away" from the parents. So there for the title of the book is "Run Aways". I Think the author made this book the way it is and made people do the things they do because it makes people anxious for the next book since it's so interesting.

Election Reflection

This election is historic because Mr.President Barack Obama an African-American was elected has President of The United States of America. This election means a lot to me because we got rid of George. W Bush also because Obama made history. To the country it also means a lot because hes going to make a "Change" to the USA and that's what we need. Today I feel refreshed because we are starting all over with Barack Obama. I predict that Barack Obama will do good in the next 4 years and hopefully the next 8 if he gets elected again.
The issues I hope he takes care of first is the war in Iraq. The reason why is because there's a lot of soldiers dying in Iraq for no reason. We need to get out of there as soon as possible and finish Afghanistan and then get our soldiers ready in case Russia plans to attack us or does attack us. I Don't think he will have a lot of pressure on him because hes a good president and a lot of people are supporting him as president of the United States of America.

Today in class i read The book Make Lemonade. In class we all read for 30 minutes. During those 30 minutes i read about 35 page. The book is not boring but at the same time not interesting. Before I started reading the book I asked my self question's. One question that I asked my self was why did Verna Lavaughn become a babysitter Verna is one of the main characters in this book. Today while I read I found out the answer to my question. She became a babysitter because her mother didn't have enough money to pay for all her college tuition. She only could afford half of it. So Verna looked for a job as a babysitter for she can pay the rest of her tuition when she goes to college

Make Lemonade

Today in class I read Make Lemonade. Ms.Johns told us to read for 25 minutes so we did. The book at the moment is very interesting. The reason why is because the main character LaVaughn. She wants to go to college so she talks to her mother about it constantly. Her mother says that she doesn't have money for that at the moment. Then later on she said that she had some money for the college. So LaVaughn's Mother made a bank account for her. In the mean while LaVaughn is babysitting and were she is babysitting she pretty much hates it. Theres cockroaches always on the walls and every were else. Also that theres a mess in the house and she can't even place a book any were to study. She is also very very more a school girl because she loves to go to school and she loves to study and do all her work. In the book i ask my self why is there like a different chapter after almost every 2 pages.
I Think that the author named this book Make Lemonade because LaVaughn has to squeeze her way through everything. Like babysitting and saving money for she can pay for her college. Also i think that LaVaughn is going to quit babysitting because she just can't hardly work there babysitting in house that is so dirty. But it's going to be difficult for her to find a new job if she quits because she has a lot of stuff on her. Because she has to worry about good grades, Save money, and always talk to her mom about college.

"A Chilled Called It"
Dave Pelzer

One day i read the book " A chilled called It" This Book is very Sad. I Say this book is sad because The boy "It" is really Dave Pelzer, But hes mom calls him by "It". Dave Gets Abused by hes mother and there was even one time when Dave's Mother made him eat hes little brothers feces. She treats him like her own personal slave. She makes him starve for days. She even sometimes made him sleep outside on a Cot. In the second book he ran away cause he got tired of not eating and tired of getting abused by hes mother. He then was in a found by a guy in a store. The guy questioned him and then called the police. When the police arrived they called hes mother. He then ended up back in to hell. Dave's mother made him wear the same clothes to school almost for a month. Dave would steal lunches from kids in school because he would always be hungry. A lot of kids made fun of him. A counselor in hes school noticed he had a lot of bruises on hes body. She talked to the other teachers about it and she knows that he gets abused and Dave was scared that they called hes mother because she didn't want any one to know about this. He ended up going to a foster care.
