Discrimination - Rasicm
What I have learned about this topic is that there's a lot of discrimination going on this world, and something should be done about. Back then there was always police brutality, and it had stopped but it's now still going on. A story I found about my topic was the Sean Bell case. He was shot 50 times on the day of his wedding for no exact reason.

My Social Issue - Discrimination
My Plan for this group "Discrimination" is to explain in my documentary that people shouldn't get discriminated because of what they are, what color they are or what they believe in. Everyone is human and we are all the same just think of things differently, and I will find someone that I can interview someone that has gotten discriminated before. For they can explain to people how they feel. So, the people who discriminate will see how they will feel if someone discriminated them, And I'm positive ill find many people who have gotten discriminated. Thats my plan for now.

Short Story Introduction
“Katrina, remember last summer when you came to visit and we had that party?” I said happily.
“Yeah! Yeah! I do” She said with a grin on her face.
I have known Katrina ever since we can remember, but when she moved away to New York City everything changed. Nothing was the same. She was my only real friend, like the only friend I have ever trust.
I remember the day of that party like if it was yesterday. Everything was smooth. The music was blasting everyone was dancing. The sunshine was coming through the windows. I felt like a rat going through the bottom of a door. The place was full. There were people in the living room, kitchen, other rooms and one of the most excited places the pool. That was crowded too. Cannon balls everywhere. The smell of hot dog’s burning. We all were having a blast.
“Ugh But I can’t believe what happened” She said slowly with a sad tone.

Book Club Novel Characters
If The Socs and The Greasers were in New York City in 2006, they would not be having rumbles and jumping people. The reason why is because there were other people around back then in 06. They were in a town, but if they come to New York City it wont be the same.
For example, If they were in The City Bob and his friends wouldn't have tried to jump Johnny and PonyBoy. The reason why is because they probably will be a lot of cops roaming the streets, and maybe they would be other people in the streets looking for trouble and would of hit Bob his crew, and maybe PonyBoy and Johnny.

The Outsiders Book Club Response
Title: The Outsiders
Author: S. E. Hinton
Today I read the book "The Outsiders" So far I find this book very interesting because it's about a group of boys that have each others back there like a little gang. The name of there gang is " The Greasers" They have a rival gang called "The Socs". The name of the One of the boys in the group from The Greasers that they call Pony boy was walking home from the movies. He got jumped by the Socs. He was cut up and they cut his long hair. When he went home his brothers and friends told him to calm down. They went looking for The Greasers but they already left. That is what I have read so far.

Remember - Christina Georgina Rossetti
The theme of this sonnet is making someone forget about you. Then thinking about you again.
A Clue that gave away the title is when she says " Better by far you should forget and smile Than that you should remember and be sad " meaning the guy or who ever should forget about her and then one day think about her and be sad knowing that they no longer are together. This does connect to my life in some way because someone wanted me to forget about them but its impossible. I can connect this poem to other poems we have read today because there saying that people have left or/and came into there life's.

The rose that Grew from concrete by Tupac Shakur
The theme on this poem is that Tupac is the rose and he is saying that while he was growing up life was hard and he was struggling. Also, that no one really cared about him while he was growing up so thats why he probably expresses him self with poems. For example when he says "Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared." hes saying that he was on his own.

Brown Hands - Lupe Algarin
I think what makes this poem such a great love poem is that he is trying to say that the girl is his other-half. This poem makes me feel honestly kind of weird because he is trying way too hard to make it sound nice. What I learned about Lupe today is that Lupe has a some part in his heart that he is very sweet or is trying to be sweet.

Hyperbole
One Hyperbole the poet used was "If only a bomb would explode you to bits.". I Think the poet used this Hyperbole this way because he wants to show that he really hates homework and he wants it to blow up and disapear. Another Hyperbole the poet used was " I wish I could wash you away in the sink." I think he is saying that he wants to wash the home work down the sink for it can go to a sewer.

Take me as I am
The mood of this poem is like if Mary J. Blige is depressed and she is trying to move on but something is trying to get in her away. A inference I can make about this poem is that she probably is trying to move on. The meaning of this poem is that she doesn't want anything to hold her back from doing what she wants to do.

Poetry Response Bronx Masquerade
What I think of this characters so far is that they all know whats going on in the streets of Harlem and about all the violence that is going on. I have learned that most of them do not have a lot of money. A inference i can make about this characters is that they all have a talent.
The poetry reveals about them a lot of things like that that most of them don't have a lot of money. Most of them are very confident with there poetry.
The meaning of Tyrone's poem is that he knows whats going on about the violence and the drugs but he still wants to live there because he loves living there. One thing is that he isn't very confident when it comes to life. He thinks he will be lucky if he makes it to the age of 21.
I do not connect with this poem because I know what I want to do with my future and I don't take school as a joke.

Alice Walker Poem
The main idea of this poem is that she is accepting people dead because she know that people are born to die they don't live for ever.
A inference i can make about this poem is I think someone died in her family.
A word that best describes how the poet is feeling is depressed and sad.
I do connect with this poem because no body lives for ever unless your some type of super hero.

Stopping by the woods
This poem creates a boring mood. The reason why is because I do not like this poem even though its my opinion that's what I think the mood poem creates.
Frost used repetition in this poem.
The reason why he repeated the same line was to show people how he feels and he is trying to open out to them.
The speaker is feeling old and tired the reason why is becaus he sounds like he can hardly talk.

"Changes" - Tupac Shakur
A inference i can make about this poem is that Tupac is living in a racist time.
Words hat best describe this poet the way he is feeling are "War, Racist, N----, Police, Crack, Drugs, and much more
The reason why is because he is explaining out people were so racist and there was always drugs and violence.
The message that Tupac is trying to send is to everyone! that is living with racism and drugs and violence
because he is living during while all of this is happening he is explaining how the blacks can't rest because they need
to live there life looking behind there shoulder because probably cops will try to kill or beat them.
I do connect with this poem because he went through this and If I was living while this was going on
I would feel exactly the same way.
But some of it is still going on not like it was going on before.

O Captian! My Captain
The meaning of this poem is why Lincoln died. The ship is being compared to the country. I think the poet does repetition because he wants to show how he feels. What he repeated a lot was "O Captain! My Captain!" The captain of the "ship" is Abraham Lincoln. So what that means is he is the President of the United States of America since thats what the ship is being compared to.

"Yes We Did"
He did drugs got made fun of.
Big ears, Big Head, Little body.
Threats and Disrespect.
His life was a struggle With both of his parents dead.
He just kept hes head up like if hes nose was bleeding.
He hit the senate in Illinois People cheered others laughed.
Then ran for president with a lot in his ears.
Came with Honesty and Hope.
And a wonder full quote "Yes We Can"
African-American
Kenyan And Hawaiian.
On January 20th 2009 everybody opened there ears.
Just to hear "Your new President Barack Obama"
Made history and I was apart of it.

Inaugural Poem Response
Pray song for the day Bye Elizabeth Alexander
This poem relates to Obama's life and the inauguration. Because, its talking about how theres a new light at the end of the tunnel for this nation. A theme in this poem is hope. Also, its sending out a message that a new president will bring a new beginning. This poem makes me feel very proud because I was apart of history. This poem reminds me of things that Barack Obama has said during hes campaign. Like "Yes We Can" and like he promised "Yes We Did"

Reading Response #6
Title: To Kill a Mocking Bird
Author: Harpet Lee
To Kill a Mocking Bird is very interesting. I recommend this book to many people. The reason why is because the book has you waiting for whats gonna happened so it makes you wanna read more and more. The mysterious person in this book is Boo Radley. Eventually at the end of the book he comes out the house and saves Jim's life.

Letter to the New President
Dear Mr. President,
Congratulations on becoming the first African-American president of the United States of America. There's History in a making and it's coming with a change. Today I feel excited because I'm being a part of history. I think the things you should handle in the first (100) days is bring the
troops back from Iraq, and Afghanistan. Also, handle the poverty in the United States. It's bringing the country down a little bit.
My opinion on how people feel in New York and people in other states or/and world wide is that they were not shocked but excited because you're the first African-American president in the United States. I think Martin Luther King Jr. would of been one of the happiest men in the world to see you become president. He did a lot of hard work. One of his dreams was probably being alive to see the first African-American President of the United States.
Today in your speech I hope you talk about the main topic you talked about from the beginning of the campaign which was Change. Also how you will make United States a better place to live in. Now that your our President hopefully a lot will change. Good Luck with the speech in your Inauguration. Again Congratulations.
Sincerely,
Algenis Ramos.
